Today we were introduced to our next art project, carving soapstones. We learned many new and interesting facts about soapstone carving. Leave a comment (do not repeat what has already been said) about something new you learned today about soapstone carvings. For example: There was this guy named Moh who created a scale to measure the hardness of rocks.

Relief is when your sculpture is attached to the stone and in the round is when your sculpture isn't attached to the stone. I am so exited for the carving!!

I learned that if something breaks off your sculpture, then you can glue it back, but if you cut it, you can't glue it back.

I learned that if you show the main features of the animal, it will look more like the shape for ex. Elephant has a trunk, tusks and are very large, so you would show those features in you soapstone carving. Can't wait to get started!!! :)
