One interesting thing I learned is that there are only 56 days in the arctic regions that have total sunlight in the summer and 30 days in the winter where there is no light. The book said that having no light makes it hard for humans to survive so that would be one reason why it is an extreme environment. I also learned that another reason why it is an extreme environment is because it is one of the coldest and windiest places on earth. This unit is going to be very interesting and I can't wait to learn more about it.

I learned that in the ocean the Marianas Trench it's 11034 feet deep. It's one of the deepest ocean trenches. I also learned that there are volcanos that spew chemicals in the ocean, the chemicals they spew can reach up to 700 degrees. I wonder why it gets so hot. I'm guessing it's really cold in that part of the ocean.

An integrating thing I learned about the desert was the camels. I learned that a camel can go mounts without water. It stores all of its water and fat in its humps so on the go he can eat from his storage of fat.

I wasn't there when we took notes because I had the talent show meeting. So I haven't really got the chance to learn about my environment.

The extreme environment that I have chosen is the ocean. I have learned that there are millions of chemicals in certain bodies of water. In the deepest of oceans/underwater trenches, there are still micro organisms living at the bottom. I also learned that the Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean in the world. Something I didn't know is that the deepest underwater trench is Mariana's trench. It is located near Asia.

I learned that in order to get into space and out of the earth's atmosphere, you have to go about 300km into the sky. I also learned that a black hole is a place in space where gravity is so strong, not even light can escape once it has fallen in, which is why it's a black hole. A black hole is caused by a dying star.

I learned that winter in the Arctic can be -30 to -100 degrees Fahrenheit, so it's too cold for people to live there. And how in the winters they would have up to 30 days of complete darkness because the sun wouldn't be able to touch those areas. In the summer they would have 56 days of sunlight. I also learned that Iceland can also be considered as an Arctic Region because there are a lot of glaciers there. I also learned that blizzards would come and you wouldn't be able to tell when they were going to come.

The extreme enviroment I have chosen to do is volcanoes. Something interesting I learned was that the lava from a volcano can reach up to 700 degrees celceus and I thought that twenty degrees was hot.

Something that I learned about my extreme environment is that it can reach -100 Degrees Celsius and that is really cold. Also when the wind picks up it feels a lot colder.

The most interesting fact that caught my eye was how there was a village in the Arctic since it was -30 to -100 and that there was 54 days of light in the Summer and 30 days of darkness in the Winter.

I learnt that the volcanos lave is at 700 degrees when it erupts. That is why it's close to impossible for anything to live there
