Another day to build upon our background knowledge, set a purpose, and make connections. Today's reading lesson focused on monitoring comprehension. We learned and practiced many strategies that we can use to help us monitor our comprehension. It is a must needed skill that really helps improve our reading abilities. I wonder how you could check for comprehension in a novel that you read tonight.

Remembrance Day Assembly tomorrow (Assembly crew is needed early for setup)
Lots is keeping us busy these days. Today we focused on 3 reading strategies: setting a purpose, using background knowledge, and making meaningful connections. There were two parts to today lesson: some teacher modelling and independent student work. We were impressed with how focused the students were while they worked on task. Thanks to the iCharts we all know what our job is during our learning time. Choose one reading strategy we focused on today in class and leave a comment describing why this strategy is important for reading and how using this strategy will build and grow your reading skills.

Today, we dove deeper into Language Arts and started focusing on reading strategies. Division 4 and 5 had a group lesson on 'A NOVEL APPROACH'. Mrs. Jensen, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Hong, and Mrs, Farrell will be teaching both classes over the next few months. We are all looking forward to seeing the students continue their learning with different teachers!

A great photo of our fun time skating this week. I really like how we came together as a class and allowed everyone a chance to shoot on the net, evening the little ones. This was great team sportsmanship being demonstrated on the ice. How can we become a team player within the class?
Remembrance Day is only 12 days away. We will be having our Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday next week. I wonder what type of quotes you can find about peace, courage, being brave, justice,...
